Let's Learn Herbalism
The Hedgefolk Apprenticeship: Ancestral Herbalism for the Modern Folk
The Hedgefolk Apprenticeship is a yearlong journey into bioregional plant medicine, seasonal ritual, and ancestral remembering. Rooted in the wild edges—where the forest meets the field, where tradition meets intuition—this spiral path invites you to study with the land, not just about it.
Join a living community of earth-tenders, foragers, and fire-hearted learners as we explore folk herbalism through the wheel of the year. This is slow, sacred education: deeply seasonal, wildly practical, and crafted to honor both lineage and lived experience.
what makes us special? folk & fire is grounded in:
-
WILD INTEGRITY
We make things the old way: slow, seasonal, and full of soul.
Each batch is crafted with reverence for the plants, the people who came before us, and the stories held in root and resin.
We honor our herbal lineages, work with clean hands and clear hearts, and never cut corners—because real care can’t be rushed.
-
EARTH CONNECTION
We work with the land, not just on it.
Our herbs are wildcrafted with deep respect from the entire Cascadia Bioregion, grown in our gardens, or sourced from small-scale farmers we know and trust.
We make in rhythm with the seasons and craft in small batches—because that’s how you give a damn about the planet and everyone on it.
-
COMMUNITY CARE
We believe in care that goes beyond the individual—care for each other, and the land that holds us.
Rooted in inclusivity and mutual aid, we support a more just future by collaborating with local farmers, sharing a portion of profits with community efforts, and creating a space where all bodies are welcome.

Behind it All
Hi, I’m Sia.
Herbalist, forager, mother, skier, writer, and joyful chaos creature.
I make small-batch plant medicine with big heart energy—slow, sacred, and a little bit scrappy. Everything at Folk & Fire is handcrafted on Bainbridge Island, WA, using bioregional plants, ancestral practices, and a dash of good mischief.
This is where my love for the land meets my urge to stuff herbs into jars like potions (because they are). It’s where ritual, healing, and practicality weave together—earthy remedies, sacred body care, and offerings for the altars of everyday life. This isn’t fast wellness or curated aestheticism. This is the real stuff: rooty, reverent, and wildly human.
But Folk & Fire isn’t just about what I make—it’s about what we remember together and how we re-connect ourselves back into the greater web of life.
Through the Hedgefolk Apprenticeship and seasonal workshops, I teach hands-in-the-dirt herbalism for people who want to learn the old ways without the gatekeeping. It’s slow, community-rooted learning that spirals with the seasons. We gather on the land, make medicine with what grows around us, and root deeply into ancestral rhythms—tending grief, celebration, bodies, and connection alike.
So come on into the Apothecary - there's always tea on the stove or in the fridge.
Let’s remember what it feels like to belong to the land again.

Sia of Folk & Fire is an outstanding herbalist & educator. I first had the privilege of using their products after purchasing at a market in Tacoma. Now salves/tinctures are available online which is great for us who don’t have the opportunity to purchase in person. Folk & Fire take great care in packaging and mailing products so they make it to the doorstep safely too which is appreciated and so important to me.
Great products, great people…..& great packaging 😉I know it’s what on the inside that really counts but pretty labels and products help me enjoy the entire experience even more, especially when gifting 🥰Sarah Jane R.

Hello from MN! I’m in love with your products, the facial oil is my everyday go to! Little goes a long way ツ love the lightness and earthy smells. My boyfriend loves the beard oil, he has made this into his everyday routine as well! It’s added so much fullness and life to it. It’s not dry and doesn’t go all over the place anymore!
